another FO

I completed a baby comfort blanket on my machine, I used only one skein and it is ribbed on all sides and it is perfect for a small child to hold and carry everywhere. I am also working on converting the tube scarf pattern from Alterknits to a pattern for the machine.

FO To show

I have been starting and frogging everything lately so I have not hade anything to show for all of the knitting that I have been doing. So here is a FO to show. this is my own pattern using 100% rayon yarn and I knitted it on my knitting maching then I dopped a few stitches to get the look of the Clapitos on one side of the shawl/scarf. So let me know what you think.

Happy Birthday to me

Ok it is here my birthday and I really hate birthdays because they are made out to be so wonderful but they are really just there to make you feel OLD... Above is a picture of me and my Dad when I was just 6 Months old. I had to post this because I love this picture of me and my day the best of any picture that has ever been taken. I had to go to a Chamber of Commerce meeting today at lunch which I thought was not going to be much of anything so I took my knitting with me and was working on a ribbed scarf that is going to be a christmas present, and whil I was waiting for the meeting to start I ended up filling up my knitting class that starts this Tuesday night. So I think the meeting was worh my time in that I made some money in a round about way. Well my mother is keeping my girls tonight so my husband can take me out to dinner, he still has yet to tell me where he is taking me, so I guess I will have to just wait and see. I will not be getting my spinning wheel as I had hoped, Last week my husbands truck that he uses for work broke down on his way back from Mississippi and so that nixed that in the bud, because that means no money for extras for a whil because the Engine Locked up and with it being a desel engine that means $10,000 for a new engine or he has to get a new truck. I think I might have enough money though to get me something special. I don' t knit what I will buy because I change my mind too many times.

Here is one of my drawings from school. I thought you all might like to see what else consumes my time. I am taking Perspective It is a very interesting class but it not challenging.

Well I have to go for now because I have to get some school work done before I leave today.

In Memory of

My wonderful Uncle Guy Garner. Today marks a year since his passing and we still feel his loss as if it were only yesterday. He Died doing what he loved. He had been a missonary to Israel for the past 7 years when he passed away of a Massive Heart Attack. He did so much to help so many people that his touch is still evident in people he met. He was a great Father, Grandfather, Husband, Brother, Uncle, Friend. He stood for what he belived in and you knew where he stood. He is greatly missed.

No knitting to show for it

A whole weekend to knit and nothing to show for it. I started on a christmas stocking and got about 15 rounds and I realized that I had made a mistake 8 rows back so I frogged it all. I did enjoy the I-pod though as I went for a walk on Sunday afternoon with the DH and Kids and it was a big help to keep me motivated for 4 miles (pulling one child in a wagon the whole way, the other was riding her bike). I hope to be getting a spinning wheel in the next week and I really look forward to that I really can't wait I love to spin. I like to see the colors come together when I am spinning Hand Dyed Roving. I will have some new items up for a swap hopefully by the end of the day today. I have some hand painted bulky Navajo wool and some hand painted lace weight rayon.

I-Pod

I got my Ipod in yesterday I have a 120 songs Shuffle and I love it . Ihave loaded it with all of my favorite songs and I am having a blast. I was wondering what type of music do you listen to when you knit? I really like a good beat when I am doing something that is simple and a slower Jazz sound when I am working on a complicated pattern. I like Amy Grant Speaking of Amy Grant next Friday October 21, 2005 at 9pm est will be that

An Awakening

After reading the Yarn Harlot's At Knits End I realized I am not the only crazy person who stays up all night on christmas eve and knits just to finish that last gift. Last year it was a scarf for my FIL and it was great because it matched his coat perfectly, so I think tha it was worth it, but I have been on the way to a party still knitting on the gift. I had a baby shower a couple of months ago BB (Before Blog) and I was knitting the last 10 rows and weaving in the ends while my Dear Mother was driving. I finished it just prior to arriving. I think I have mastered knitting in a moving vehicle. I have produced more on the road than sitting still at either home or work.

Answer to question from reader

Q. doodknitwit said... hi found blog by way of md group....cool knitting...why the pockets on each end of the mitered scaf? October 12, 2005 6:07 PM A. I wanted to make a scarf that I could wear when I walk that would have a place for my keys and my Cell phone and my I-Pod Shuffle.

Pictures as promised

Here is my Edgar from www.knitty.com I made it for a christmas gift and this is the yarn she picked out not knowing what I was going to make with it.

I really do not like Red Heart but this was made out of the Red Heart Super Saver Multicolor in color 0994 Banana Berry. I think that it turned out really good for the yarn and I think it will satand up to use by a teenager.

Here is a Mitered square scarf that I started on sunday and I have knitted 3 squares and one is folded over th create a pocket on the end and I will do the same on the other end.

Here is an addition to my stash. 2 sets of #13 bamboo Needles. and a small book of knitting patterns. I also picked up 7 skeins of a confetti yarn and 10 skeins of funny fur. All I am happy to say were in the $1 bin at my local Target.

In response to a question

Email from my SP6 Pal Eep! How long will you be gone?I have a package I'm pulling together for you, and I now am concerned I might send it while no one is around to accept it, and there might be a problem in it actually making it to you.I'll also email you because I can't tell whether or not you're seeing these comments...But, if you are, good luck, and have a safe trip!- Your SP6 Sekrit Pal My response: I got back last night and I will be home. Knitting Update: I had to drive some of the trip so I only was able to complete the Edgar from www.knitty.com

AlterKnits

I really want this book. Alter Knits I have seen this book on so many blogs that I really need to add this to my wish list. I am thinking I should make a list of all the things I would like for my birthday and and post it here. My birthday always makes me want to make a list because I have to give one to my MIL every year per my DH but then I do not get anything off of it so I really do not see thepoint in the list but I am just on a rant today and I am really feeling overwelmed today for some reason, I guess I could make a list of all those things here too: School Work Home Children DH and much to much more to mention.

Pictures from my trip

I was able to get copies of the pictures from my trip to Myrtle Beach with the Ladies from our church. In the first picture I am wearing the yellow shirt. We were eating at Hook's Seafood, it was wonderful. Here I am knitting before I nightly meeting started, that is my friend Cindy sitting across from me. Here is Nicole, Brenda, and Alesia. Brenda has a sheep that she said that I can have all of the wool asl long I can get it shirred. Oh joy, I really look forward to shirring a sheep. Here is a picture of our whole group on our last night there we had a very wonderful time and did not want the time to slip away.

School has started for me

I have started back to college as of monday and I have no knitting new to report because I have been so busy working on my drawing class. I have to take Perspective this session. I am only taking two classes per Quarter and I am so glad but next quarter I have to take 3 so I will be really busy. I did get a lot of spinning done over the weekend about 800 yards of worsted - bulky weight yarn and I hand dyed some of it as roving and some as finished yarn. I used kool-aid and had some very good results. I have a new e-mail provider and I am having trouble getting my pictures to come through so this post will have no pictures today. SO SORRY :-( Edited to add this: I take classes through the Art Institute of Pittsburgh which offers classes online. And here is a picture of some of my handspun yarn.
