Crusing the Blog World

I was out cruising the blog world and I noted a couple of items that I wish I had. Look at the needles in this post. I really love this yarn Ok enough about what I am wishing for. I completed another face cloth and started on some cottage socks and still workingon the second sock for my BF for Christmas. I have a scarf on the needles and a poncho for my oldest, I also am going to be Driving from Atlanta to Ft Lauderdale on Saturday for a job with my DH. I can't wait I get to knit most of the trip but I will have to drive some of the way back. I hope to get the poncho completed and the second sock. I also would like to make a couple of the small felted pouches from AlterKnits, Oh I love that book way too much. I would recommend it to anyone. Well I better go I have school work to get completed.

Knitting Like Crazy

I have been knitting so much I have not had much time to update. Here is a list of FO that have been started and completed in the past week. 2 Scarves for My Nieces . 4 spa face cloths. Legwarmers An I wrapped them before taking a picture of any of them. So sorry. I made the face Cloths with my one pattern for eyelet garter stitch cloth. So here is the supply list and the pattern you can get 2 cloths out of each ball of yarn. Supplies:2 balls of Lily Surgar'N Cream cotton 4.50mm (us#7) needles CO 4 row 1: k 2, yo, k to end. Repeat row 1 until there are 45 stitches then start decrease. decrease row: k1, k2tog, yo, k2tog, k to end. repeat decrease row until there are 4 stitches on the needles then bo k = Knit yo = Yarn over k2tog = Knit 2 stitches together co = Cast on bo = Bind off I use a verigated yarn for these just to add interest to the garter stitch. I would also like to thank my Felted Bag Secret Pal for the wonderful package that I received in the mail yesterday. I got a skein of Noro in color #95 a gold Clover Thread cutter a pouch of the cutest stitch markers and a Very large Felted tote that I love I will post a picture as soon as I get my camera working.

I have the Pineapple Citrus Burning right now on my desk in my shop. it smells wonderful.

Thank you again and I hope that you have a wonderful thanksgiving also. And yes it is getting Cold Here. We had to turn the Heat on Last night and when I woke up this morning it was below Freezing Here.

Camera Working Now

Here is the picture of the socks that I am knitting for a christmas present. I loce the way the sock garden knits up. it is so soft to work with. Here is a new Hand Dyed skein that I am going to put up on the Destash site, I created this with over 30 differnt fibers, it has a little ocer 100 yards in it and would be great for a narrow scarf.

No Camera now

I really wanted to post the picture of the Socks that I am working on I am now on to the foot and I really like the way that it is turing out. I am using Knit Picks Sock Garden in Morning Glory. I really love the way the color looks knitted up and it knits up differntly than the picture on the website. the design is a little more subtle but I do like the effect. In Christmas Knitting new I reall have to get on the ball to be able to finish on time. Here is what I have to have done.
  • Hat/Scarf set for 10 year old boy
  • hat/scarf set for 8 year old girl
  • hat/scarf set for 4 year old girl
  • hat/scarf set for 2 year old boy
  • Feather & Fan Scarf for my SIL
  • Scarf for my MIL
  • Hat for my Father
  • Socks for my best friend (One olmost done)
And that does not include the items I really want to knit for my little girls. SO I really must get off this blog and get knitting. We I will give a little update on the Shop Front. We had Holiday Open House Last night and we did better than last year for the same night. So yippee. I hope that this is an indication that the holiday shopping season is going to be good this year. I have also posted a few free knitting patterns on my shops website. www.katiecannonandcompany.com/knittingpatterns.html

Long time no post here

I have been knitting I have completed 3 repeats on the baby blanket and started a pair of socks for a christmas present (sorry no pictures today). I went horseback riding on Saturday for 5 hours and preceded to get run in to a tree and my eyelid cut but it looks like just a scratch. My back jolted so bad that I am still aching. I also got my leg twisted when another horse decided to pas at a full run in a turn and the other rider's foot got caught between my leg and my horse. SO I have a very interesting weekend to say the least. In knitting mews I got a package of knit picks yarn 2 skeins each of Sock Garden, Sock Memories, and Sock Landscape. I am using the Sock Garden in Morning Glory for the pair of sock that I started. I love the way it is turning out, I have about 2 inches on it so far as my sholders are hurting too from saturday. I have been designing my Shop's new website and it is up but not completed and you can all check it out and let me know what you think, it is at. www.katiecannonandcompany.com This has been keeping me busy as well as a new class that I started for school. Digital Image Manipulation. Here is one of the images that I did for school. I call it Fall In GA . Here is a picture of the CourtHouse that is located one block from my shop. Edited to add. I did finish another pair of Leg warmers for my girls this weekend also. They were for my youngest daughter Shae. Caron Super Soft in Rubine Red this was her choice. Remember she is 3 1/2.

Design Your Own Striped Scarf

I have created a kit for my knitting students for them to be able to try out knitting with different yarns and make a scarf. It has 10 yards of 5 different types of yarn and 20 yards of the sixth choice, and I thought some of my knitting buddies would be interested. I am going to list them on my destash site as I get them scanned in because I have a few different colorways available. http://katiesdestashsale.blogspot.com

Kiri Frogged

I finished one repeat and I had to frog it all the way back because I dropped a stitch and could not figure out how to pick it back up correctly. I did get some knitting done though. I made some very cute Leg Warmers for my oldest and finished one for the next pair for her sister. And in other news, . . . . . the baby beat the blanket. My friend Tracy had a beautiful 5lbs, 6oz 17inches long baby girl last night and I was lucky enought to get to be there and help with the big brothers. Paige Elizabeth was born at 8:52pm and beat her blanket by 2 weeks, I still have 18 inches to go before it is long enough. So I guess I better get knitting. I hope that you all have a wonderful evening.

A Rather Large RAOK

I just wanted to say that I had recieved a rather large sum of money as a RAOK from a family friend with the only stipalation that their name not be mentioned. I really would like to say how much this helps us out. My Husband's Truck engine locked up on him about 4 weeks ago and we had to purchase a new one and so he had been out of work for 3 weeks and this money could not have came at a better time.

Kiri Shawl

I started the Kiri Shawl last night and I finished 16 rows YAHOO for me. I am so excited. I hope to get atleast 2 repeats done on this before I have to come back to work on Tuesday. SO wish me luck. I will post a picture of my progress on Tuesday. So I look forward to actually getting to make something for myself. I don't mean that I don't love making things for others but I really would like to get to keep a FO for a change. I have finished the front and back of the Childs sweater that has been in design phase for the past month, I hope to have the sleeves done by monday. And it seemed up by tuesday because I have to add the embleshments to it. I am planning on putting a crochet ruffle on the sleeves and bottom edge and I might put a Duplicate stitch Flower on it also. Sorry no Knitting pictures today but I will have some for you next week. Here is a Bag that I made. I like to sew when I get it in the mood so here is what ny mood came up with this week. This is a Crazy quilt bag that has a sleeping Bee on one side and an awake Bee on the other.

I have been trying to find a baby sweater pattern that would use a chunky yarn and large needles and I found a very simple pattern here, for free. I really want to make a sweater for my oldest daughter who just turned 5 last week and if anyone knows a good free pattern for this using at least worsted weight yarn and is a pullover please let me know. Thank you all in advance for your comments. I feel really behind right now on my christmas knitting.

Vote on what I should start next.

Ok My SP6 Pal sent me 5 skeins of Knit Picks Shadow yarn in Jewel and The pattern for the Sweet Mary Jane , and the Keri Shawl and I was trying to decide which one to start on as I would have enough to do both and then I found this Free Pattern on Elann.com I am now having a hard time deciding so I am going to put it to a vote. Just post a comment and let me know what you think that I should cast one. You can see each of the patterns through the links in the post.

I just felt like stash busting 3 (300 yards) skeins of Lace weight 100% Rayon yarn that is white with a light blue slub and will take dye very well. ($9.00 each retal) SOLD

1 (150 yards) skeins Navjo Wool Bulky Weight Hand Painted in shades of red and yellow, It will be great for felting a small bag I just cannot use it for the projects that I am working on now. ($6.00 retail) 2 (120 yards) Skeins Hand Dyed Cotton One Light Green and One Light Purple. Worsted Weight. ($10.00 each Retail)

2 Skeins (1= 172 yards) (1= 195 Yards)of REcycled Chenille Yarn Fingering Weight ($8.00 each REtail) I would like to swap these for some felting wool, I am wanting to make the felted bullettin board from AlterKnits. Un-Knitting

I decided that it was time that I picked up a few sweaters from the thriftstore, after reading Alterknits. So I stopped yesterday at the Local Salvation Army shop and found a few very interedting sewaters, I made sure that the ones that I purchased had a hole in it so that I would not feel so bad ripping out a perfectly good sweater. Well I hit the mother load. I got 8 sweaters for $7.50 and allof them were either large are x-large, so I know I will get a goot amount of yarn out of them. I started on the natural color 100% cotton sweater and I got 175 yards out of one sleeve, I am planning on dying it once I have knit it into a scarf so that I can use it after it is washed and not have to wait for the dye to dry. I will post some pictures later today.
